Packed between the Gold Coast, Ipswich and Logan, and 35 kilometres from Brisbane’s central business district, Beenleigh is mostly famous for its 134-year old rum distillery (Australia’s oldest registered). Other notable attractions here are the Story Bridge, the historical museum and village, a chocolate factory and numerous parks. Beenleigh is one of the four key centres that are responsible for Logan City’s success because it generates employment for the surrounding communities and its rich heritage.

Because of its location on the Pacific Motorway, Beenleigh provides great connectivity to commercial areas of Gold Coast and Brisbane, and it having affordable housing and land, makes it an attractive option for investors. Beenleigh has been a self-sufficient town, with the major economic zones being immersed in manufacturing, public administration, safety, retail and healthcare. Officials are now calling for action to make it more dynamic and interesting. These plans include: Creating green links, more infrastructure for the town square, a water park, upgradation of existing transport network, public wi-fi and many many more.

The city planners are also offering a discount up to $1 million for local employment generation and attracting new investments for the creation of new mix developments. More recently, a $300 million proposal (for an integrated living township) was approved by the Logan City Council. When completed, it will be equipped with medical and childcare centres, residential facilities, recreational centres and a shopping centre. The construction will also see the generation of more than 1,500 jobs and is expected to provide long-term economic benefits to the society.
