Sitting atop Mount Ridley, Craigieburn (meaning “rocky creek”) used to be a main road stopover in the early days, and now looks out to Melbourne some 27 kilometres away from a height of 200 metres above sea level. Being a small town, Craigieburn has not much to offer as a tourist spot, but that doesn’t mean that the average tourist will get bored here! There are the Pillars at Mount Martha, known for their rugged climb and amazing views, the local craft market that has many organic products and souvenirs for the city dwellers and of course so many varieties of craft beers that you can try a new one each day!

By 2031, Craigieburn’s population, which is multicultural and is largely made up of Indians, Filipinos, Turkish and Hmong, is projected to go up by 150%. To cope with this, the government has launched several programs to make sure that they have access to infrastructure and services for the community’s well-being and timely access to an affordable lifestyle. More recently, a Melbourne-based firm announced the 32-hectare $1.7 billion investment in the Craigieburn Business Park, that features thousands of square metres of retail, medical, office and hotel space to encourage community growth.
